A CCTV image has been released of an individual suspected of being involved in vandalism at the new base of a Lichfield charity.
Windows were smashed at the Lichfield Sports Club site at around 2.25am on 31st July.
Construction work is underway to build the new permanent facility for Liberty Jamboree.
The charity, which supports young people with disabilities, said the incident had been “heart-wrenching” for the organisation’s members.
Now Lichfield Sports Club has released CCTV stills in a bid to help police track down the vandal behind the damage.
It shows an offender armed with what is believed to be a claw hammer who did not attempt to break into the site but targeted only the Liberty Jamboree building.
The footage shows a man who broke open a fence before using the hammer on the windows before running off across a nearby field.
Cllr Jamie Checkland, chair of Lichfield Sports Club, said:
“Ourselves and Liberty Jamboree have been working together for two years to bring this great additional facility to Lichfield.
“As we approach the finish, it is bewildering to see how an individual can maliciously target such a vulnerable group of young people.
“Someone knows or suspects who this individual might be. Please help in identifying this person.”
Anyone with information can contact police on 101, quoting incident 754 of 31st July.
