Beacon Park events mark World Poetry Day

A series of events helped mark World Poetry Day in Beacon Park.

A themed trail saw visitors to Beacon Park finding pieces written by locals about the area.

Thirty poems were submitted to create the trail with those taking part voting for their favourites. Among the winners were Chloe Bull and Katie Harvey, from Two Rivers High School in Tamworth, for their joint work on the poem Minibeasts, and Glen Hughes for her poem, Beacon Park Beetle.

Councillor Andy Smith, Lichfield District Council’s Cabinet Member for Leisure and Parks, said: “Thank you to everyone who entered their poems into the trail and well done to the winning poets.”

Other activities included a poetry workshop, Gruffalo-themed storytelling and pop-up poetry recitals.
