At Lichfield Community Media CIC, our mission is to deliver accurate, independent and engaging news for Lichfield, Burntwood and the surrounding villages via LichfieldLive.co.uk and The Lichfield and Burntwood Independent. We aim to keep our community informed, hold local bodies accountable and champion the stories that matter to local residents.
1. Accuracy and truthfulness
- We strive to check facts and verify information before publication. If we quote sources or cite statistics, we ensure they come from reliable origins.
- If we make a proven factual mistake, we will correct it promptly.
2. Impartiality and balance
- As a Community Interest Company, we operate independently of local councils, political parties and commercial sponsors. Opinion pieces and commentary will be clearly labelled as such.
- Advertisers are made aware that such agreements do not guarantee editorial coverage or allow for influence on reporting.
3. Local focus
- Our primary focus is on events, issues and people within Lichfield district and the immediate surrounding areas.
- We prioritise stories that affect residents' daily lives, local democracy, public services and community wellbeing, as well as highlighting events and activities which are relevant to those who live, work or have links in the local area.
- As a Community Interest Company, our content is focused on the local area – you will not find stories which have no relevance to the areas we cover or the people who live, work or have links here.
4. Tone and respect
- We aim to be accessible, informative and engaging without resorting to clickbait.
- We respect the privacy of individuals, particularly children, vulnerable adults and victims of crime, balancing public interest against individual rights.
5. Commercial transparency
- Any paid-for content, advertorials or commercial partnerships will be clearly marked as such so readers can easily distinguish any such material from independent journalism.
- As a Community Interest Company any funds generated will be used to support the sustainability and growth of publications owned by Lichfield Community Media CIC.
6. User contributions and comments
- We welcome reader contributions, tips and letters.
- We will credit relevant material to any author or content creator where necessary.
- Online comments and community submissions are moderated. We do not tolerate hate speech, defamation, personal abuse or illegal content. A full comments policy can be found here.
7. Feedback and complaints
- We value feedback on our reporting and ideas from readers – please contact our editorial team at yournews@lichfieldlive.co.uk.
- If you believe a story breaks any of the standards or contains an error, please reach out directly with the article link and details.
- Full details of our complaints procedure can be found here.
