Businesses across Lichfield and beyond looking for a place to hold an event or think creatively are being offered the opportunity to host events at Erasmus Darwin House.
The museum is currently offering three of its rooms for corporate hire at competitive prices, and if you book between now and the end of March 2011, there’s an additional 20 percent off.
The Library, the Exhibition Room and Lunar Room, all on the first floor, can accommodate between eight and 36 people with flexible seating formats. The museum is licensed and equipped with a digital projector, OHP, flip-charts, screen, white board and multiple sockets for laptops. Standard rates are £25 for a whole day and £15 for a half-day booking (charged per delegate).
The home of the Enlightenment scientist and physician has been the site of many inventions and discoveries. It was used frequently between 1765 and 1813 as one of the meeting places for The Lunar Society: a dinner club and informal scientific society that included luminaries such as Josiah Wedgwood, James Watt and Mathew Boulton. Darwin himself came up with many inventions, including a carriage that would not tip over, a canal lift for barges, an Artesian well and a ‘talking machine’ (a mechanical larynx made of wood, silk, and leather that would astonish his visitors). Clients can hold their corporate meeting or event in the room where the Lunar Circle met, with refreshments included, as well as lunch for a whole day booking.
