Visitors to Lichfield Cathedral will be able to see the historic building in a new way when the popular candlelit tours return.
The first tours will take place on October 26 and 27, with further dates planned for November and January.
The Revd Canon Dr Pete Wilcox, Canon Chancellor of Lichfield Cathedral, said: “For hundreds of years, at night time and in winter months, people were only able to see our extraordinary Cathedral by candlelight.
“A tour of this holy place is an inspiring experience under any circumstances. The atmosphere of a candlelight tour is never to be forgotten.”
Mulled fruit punch and mince pies will be served after the tour in the Old Stables, now the centre for Cathedral visitors.
Candlelit tour dates for 2011/12:
- October 26 and 27.
- November 9, 21, 22 and 23.
- January 9, 10, 11 and 31.
Tours begin at 7.30pm and last approximately one hour. Tickets cost £12.50 per person and must be booked in advance from the Cathedral Shop (No. 9 The Close) or by calling 01543 306150.
