A Cabinet member who stood down at Lichfield District Council said a difference of opinion with the local authority’s leader over Friarsgate had left him with no alternative but to resign.
The leader of Lichfield District Council has “lost all of his credibility” in the fall-out from the failure of Friarsgate, according to the leader of the opposition group.
A former member of Lichfield District Council’s Cabinet said the current group leadership group “cannot credibly continue” after confirming his decision to step down.
Lichfield District Council’s Cabinet will discuss plans that could see them foot the £49million bill for Friarsgate this evening – but the talks will once again be held behind closed doors.
