The owner of a car dealership forced to close as part of the aborted Friarsgate redevelopment has hit out at what he claims are “misleading and inaccurate” statements made by Lichfield District Council.
A Cabinet member has said advice from legal advisors and officers at Lichfield District Council had led to the decision to keep discussions and reports about Friarsgate away from public view.
The leader of Lichfield District Council insists spending £1.9million to buy the city’s former police station is a “good investment” – despite it no longer being used for Friarsgate.
Council leaders pursued Friarsgate because they let their hearts rule their heads and had been attempting to “sell a dream” without the necessary funding, it has been claimed.
