Lichfield’s MP has urged those calling for HS2 in other parts of the country to consider the disruption the controversial line will cause in local communities.
A Lichfield councillor says the HS2 project should have been made to create an alternative exit off the A38 to avoid more than a year of disruption for motorists.
A planned six-year closure of a public right of way in Lichfield to allow for the construction of HS2 could be reduced to 18 months after safety concerns about the current diversion were raised.
