LICHFIELD Cricket Club suffered disappointment as they lost by 26 runs in their home clash with Milford Hall.

The city side opted to send the visitors in to bat after winning the toss – and made early inroads after removing Dominic Afford and his replacement Niall McHale with just two runs scored.

Jordan Bulpitt was next to go before Will Davis followed as Milford Hall found themselves floundering on 36-4.

But a knock of 98 from Sahal Malvernkar and a half century from Sanjula Bandara got the visitors’ innings back on track as they reached 238.

Isaac Rowley, James Suttle and George Turner each took two wickets as Lichfield went in pursuit of the target, which was revised down to 127 from 25.3 overs due to rain.

The hosts lost George Turner early in the innings, but fellow opener Asia Rajah made 34 as his side looked to close in on the total.

But the run chase proved too much as Lichfield could only reach 100-4 in their revised overs.
