Fire crews have tackled a blaze overnight at a property in Lichfield city centre.
Emergency services were called to Tamworth Street at 3.25am this morning (23rd January).
A Staffordshire Fire and Rescue spokesperson confirmed there were no casualties.
Pictures show severe damage to the roof above the Crave food outlet and Tan and Beauty unit.
Crews remain on scene this morning carrying out investigations into the cause of the fire.

Did Staffs Fire & Rescue comment on why an appliance from Lichfield didn’t attend considering the new station is literally a stones throw away from the incident.
I totally agree with you Tony,I saw 3 Fire engines in the bays at Lichfield Fire Station and saw a west Midlands Fire Engine come past my house with blue light on
Michael Mullarkey ex Retained fireman Lichfield
Maybe due to covid infections there was not enough crew to do a shift so another station was covering
I am probably wrong. I thought I had read Lichfield station was only in action for a few hours everyday and that out of hours cover was supplied by the West Midlands Fire Brigade.
Hope the insurance are prompt covering and staff stay in a job and rent covered fire is a nasty thing God bless hopefully not a structure knock down thank god no one killed I am sure a investigation will give a answer
Could have been a lot worse. This cover from West Mids and not having our own station on standby is a disaster waiting to happen. What would happen if a large fire broke out in a rural area in the middle of the night? They’d be waiting far too long for any assistance. Also if the roads into Lichfield were busy or impassable? Surely it’s not that expensive to have at least one crew on duty at all times?
Inexplicable that the fire station is just hundreds of yards away from this fire but did not attend.
I know I have been vociferous about lack of amenities and infrastructure in Lichfield; now it seems we don’t (or can’t) use the ones we have.
Surely an explanation is forthcoming? This has to be a major concern for the citizens of Lichfield. This service covers much more than fires.
The use of on-call firefighters for overnight cover in Lichfield has been described as a “dangerous decision” by a candidate to become the next Staffordshire Commissioner.

Unfortunately Lichfield doesn’t currently have night time cover and relies on the on-call staff but they aren’t always available this is why Lichfield didn’t attend the incident.
Not the first time that Lichfield has been left without night time cover. One of my neighbour’s had to wait 20 minutes for an appliance to attend their roof fire in November. Lichfield always used to have enough cover around the clock! SFRS have some explaining to do!
Lichfield, we uncover new gems of crap and misery by the day. What a great place to live.
Why build a modern and no doubt expensive fire station and not use it to its full potential? Will WMFS be sending the bill?
A city without a fire engine available to go to a fire because it’s at night!!! Emergency services??? Let’s hope there’s not a major house fire with this happening. Utterly ridiculous.
Perhaps the newish Police & Fire Commissioner would like to comment & take positive steps to provide o/nite cover within City. We are paying for a service we do not receive! Disaster waiting to happen – on his watch
