Richard Deakin’s killers were jailed for life after being convicted of murder after he was shot dead as he lay in bed in July 2010.

His wife had taken his daughters to school shortly before 62-year-old David Harrison, of Rainbow Street, Bilston, entered their Meadway Street home and shot her husband in the chest and leg.

Both Harrison and the driver of the getaway car, Darryl Dickens, 34 and from Powell Place, Bilston, were jailed for life after a lengthy police investigation.

Harrison was sentenced to life imprisonment, to serve a minimum of 37 years and Dickens was sentenced to life imprisonment, to serve a minimum of 30 years.

“We are happy with the outcome today and we feel that some justice has now been done, if you can call it justice,” Mr Deakin’s family said in a statement.

“We can now tell Richard’s little girls that the people that murdered their Daddy are now in prison.

“This will not bring Richard back. All we live with are treasured memories of a perfect father, son, fiancé, brother, uncle and grandson.

“All of our family are devastated that he was killed in the cold-blooded way that he was, he just didn’t deserve to die.

“He will never see his little girls grow up. If love could have saved him he would have lived forever.”
