Lichfield City FC’s FA Vase ended thanks to a 3-1 loss against Alvechurch.

Gary Birch’s men looked bright in the opening period, Joe Cole firing at the keeper and Kyle Minto heading narrowly wide.

But it was the hosts who broke the deadlock when Andy Parsons fired home.

Lichfield kept plugging away and saw Lewis Bourne head over before Tom Evans sent one just wide.

They were made to pay for not hitting the target when Alvechurch doubled their advantage before the break through a left-footed Karl Edwards finish.

City were thrown a second half lifeline when Tony Clarke tucked home a penalty.

Lichfield sensed an equaliser was on the cards and they struck the post as they pushed for a leveller.

But it wasn’t to be and Alvechurch secured their passage when Josh March found the net as City pushed on.
