LICHFIELD suffered an afternoon of struggles with the bat as they fell to a home defeat against Beacon.
After being sent into the field first, Adam Braddock’s men had some early joy as they dismissed openers Gurjot Singh and Callum Westwood with just 41 runs on the board.
Max Lee was then bowled by Preston Lee after scoring just one run.
But Beacon were able to draw on depth in their batting line-up as they climbed to 119-6.
Seven players in the visiting line-up reached double figures as they eventually reached 174 before being bowled out.
George Turner was the pick of the Lichfield bowlers as he finished with figures of 5-16.
Any hopes of the city side reaching the target were hit though when opener Asif Raja was bowled by Matthew Cartwright for one – and then his partner Preston Lee was skittled by Joshua Chesworth after scoring just four.
Lichfield number three Stuart Fielding dug in to score a fine 49, but there was little in the way of partners to stick around with him.
When Fielding was eventually bowled by Jake Cartwright to make the score 84-8 the writing was well and truly on the wall.
Isaac Rowley’s wicket fell soon after and then Omar Badal became the final victim as Lichfield slumped to defeat after scoring just 98.
