A Lichfield woman has been detained under the Mental Health Act after she stabbed her boyfriend.
Nicola Coleman, 37, was charged with the murder of Mark Cannon at her flat in Burwaye Close on September 29, 2008.
Mr Cannon, 44, from Lichfield, died from a stab wound to his neck shortly after being taken to Sutton Coldfield’s Good Hope Hospital following the incident.
Coleman was not medically fit or able to take part in the trial at Stafford Crown Court. However, a trial of the facts established that she committed the unlawful act that led to Mr Cannon’s death.
Det Sgt Nick Powell, from Staffordshire Police’s Major Investigation Department, said:
“Mr Cannon suffered multiple stab wounds at the hands of Nicola Coleman who, due to her medical condition, was unable to undergo a full trial at court.
“Our thoughts are with Mark’s family today as they continue to try to come to terms with their tragic loss.”
