A NEW mural is being created to adorn the subway at Lichfield City Station.

The 15-metre long artwork will be inspired by the poetry of 18th century poet Anna Seward, who was known as the Swan of Lichfield.

The project is being led by Friends of Lichfield City Station alongside local artist Kate Slater and Nurture CIC.

Once complete, the work will celebrate the city's green spaces and "the healing power of nature".

A drop-in art session will be held at the station between 10am and 1pm on 29th October to gather ideas and get feedback from members of the community.

Kathy Maskell, chair of Friends of Lichfield City Station, said:

"We want this to be a community art piece, in a community space and owned by the community, so come and see us and tell us what you love about the beautiful green city of Lichfield."

The project is being supported by West Midlands Railway, the Community Rail Network, the Conduit Lands Trust and the Staffordshire County Council Community Fund via Cllr Colin Greatorex and Cllr Matthew Wallens.
