A BUILDING in Burntwood could be knocked down and replaced by a new office building if plans are approved.

Proposals have been submitted for the development at 164 High Street.

The work would see the existing structure demolished and a two-storey replacement and car park built in its place.

A planning statement said the property was currently vacant.

"The previous use was terminated some ago and the site fell into disrepair.

"The application proposes to demolish the vacant building and erect a new modern office building in its place.

"The existing car park is to the re-laid and modified to suit the new use and the existing access re-used.

"The redevelopment of the site will likely have significant benefits in terms of crime reduction as the vacant site is subject to continuous vandalism."
