A TRIO of talented young dancers has been chosen to join a production of Swan Lake.
Mia D'Ambrosio, 15, Lucie D'Ambrosio, 10, and Sophie Drayton, 13, secured a spot in the 80-strong English Youth Ballet show after impressing in auditions in July.
They will perform alongside international principal dancers in the company at the Wolverhampton Grand Theatre on 9th and 10th October.
Mia and Lucie, from Stonnall, and Sophie, from Burntwood, will get the chance to experience life as professional dancers as they take part in rehearsals and coaching before their appearance on stage.
Mia, who trains at Dance City and attends Lichfield Cathedral School, said:
"I started dancing at five and my ambition to become a professional dancer has grown from the support of my family and my dance principal, who have always given me opportunities to be the best dancer I can be.
"After long days at school, going to dance makes me feel free and expressed, it takes away a lot of stress and pressure from the day before and brings me back into the present. This always brings me joy and happiness.
"I have seen many ballet productions, but always thought you had to be a professional ballerina or had to do that as a career to take part in those shows, but English Youth Ballet has given me the same opportunities and experience to develop my skills and further build my confidence."
Ann Wall, principal of English Youth Ballet who will also perform as Odette the White Swan in the production, said taking part in the production would be "an amazing experience for the trio".
She added:
"I feel privileged to be a principal dancer with the company. I enjoy teaching and coaching all the young dancers and I see some of the most talented young dancers in the country.
"I'm honoured to be a role model to the dancers and help give them an insight into the world of professional ballet.
"Dancing with English Youth Ballet is an experience that will stay with the young dancers forever."
