Police appeal after woman’s handbag is snatched in Lichfield

Police are appealing for witnesses to a robbery in Lichfield which saw a woman have her handbag snatched.

The 39-year-old woman, from Fradley, was walking in the alleyway between the A51 and Christchurch Lane at around 8.20pm on January 4 when the incident happened.

She was approached by a man, who she didn’t know, who took her handbag, knocking her to the floor. He then crossed over the A51 and into Beacon Park, where the handbag and some of its contents were found. The woman’s purse is still missing.

The robber is described as white, stocky, aged in his mid to late 30s, 5ft 5 to 5ft 6ins tall, with a long face, thin nose, blue eyes and a fair complexion. He was wearing a cream woolly, beanie hat, a light blue bomber jacket and light-coloured bottoms.

The victim was not injured but was left shaken.
