Police are warning residents to be on their guard after bogus callers struck in Lichfield.
Men called at homes of elderly people in Shenstone on November 11 and told them that a water mains burst had happened nearby and that they needed to turn the water off inside the properties.
The callers visited shortly after 5pm, following earlier incidents in Cannock and Stafford. Money was stolen from three of the homes.
The offenders have been described as white and aged in their 20’s. One man has been described as 5’10” to 6’0” tall, aged in his 20’s, with short black cropped hair wearing a dark blue jumper and dark trousers. Another offender has been described as aged in his 20’s, pale complexion and slim build wearing dark blue trousers and jumper and a third offender has been described as aged in his 20’s, 5’8” tall, chubby face and mousey brown hair and wearing grey fleece top.
Detective Sergeant John Owen said:
“We would urge people to be wary of any unexpected people coming to their home and would encourage people to take simple crime prevention measures.”
