Heidi Hawkes with her trophies from the Solent Feis Irish dancing competition
A Lichfield schoolgirl has added to her collection of Irish dancing silverware with a double success. Heidi Hawkes, who attends St Joseph’s RC Primary School, enjoyed a 10th birthday to remember as she won both the Solent Feis Under 10 Championship and then beat a number of older dancers to win the Sheila McAleer Under 15 Traditional Set Dance competition in Portsmouth at the weekend. It’s the latest success for the schoolgirl who is the current Midlands Regional champion and has also enjoyed success at competitions across the country. Heidi, who dances for The Kidd School in Birmingham, will now set her sights on qualifying for her first world championships as a solo dancer, with the 2019 competition taking place in North Carolina in the USA.
