CHASETOWN suffered a narrow defeat at Clitheroe Town as they lost 3-2.
The Scholars found themselves on the back foot in the opening exchanges as the hosts went on the offensive.
The visitors eventually got themselves into the game and saw Joel Kettle head just over the bar.
But it was Clitheroe who made the breakthrough on 22 minutes when a cross into the box was nodded home by Nathan Sandison.
A minute later and the lead was doubled as Harry Scarborough fired past Curtis Pond.
It was almost 3-0 early in the second half after Scarborough's strike went just wide.
The Scholars pulled a goal back on 53 minutes when Matt Hearsey's curling shot found the top corner.
Five minutes later things were level when a penalty was awarded and Jack Langston made no mistake from the spot.
The see-saw game continued though as Clitheroe went back in front ten minutes from time after a scramble from a corner saw Jason Gilchrist turn the ball home to secure all three points.
