Lichfield City Ladies

LICHFIELD City Ladies suffered a blow to their title hopes as they were beaten 2-1 in their top of the table clash with AFC Telford United.

The Trade Tyre Community side went into the game second behind the hosts in the table and got off to a perfect start inside 15 minutes when a neat link up with Shelbie Cartwright allowed Chloe Hood to slot home the opener.

But Telford then showed why they were top of the table as they pushed in search of a leveller for the majority of the first half.

The home side came out of the blocks quickly in the second half and got themselves level when Olivia Bellamy finished after latching on to a well-weighted through ball.

City had their chances to restore the advantage, but they were made to pay for not converting them when Bellamy wrapped up the points for Telford with a well-taken finish to make it 2-1 inside the last ten minutes.
