A RELATIVE of a war hero has travelled to Lichfield after a street was named in his honour.
Louisa Ann Jones returned to the city she grew up in from her home in North Wales to see the unveiling of a sign in a street named after her father.
Asbridge Way on the Persimmon Homes development at Cromwell Wharf honours George William Asbridge who served during World War Two.
Louisa was accompanied by her eldest son to see her father's name engraved in the future of the local community.
She said:
"On behalf of our family, I would like to express our sincere thanks to Persimmon Homes for this wonderful honour.
"To return to Lichfield where I grew up and see a street named after my father in recognition of his service is incredibly meaningful to us.
"It is a very special feeling to know that his name will now form part of the local community and be remembered for generations to come.
"I know my mum would have been incredibly proud. We miss my dad every day, but he is always thought of, loved and remembered."

"It is fantastic to see Louisa and her family return to Lichfield to unveil the street named in honour of her father.
