CHASETOWN booked their place in the next round of the FA Cup after a dramatic replay against Worcester City.
The Scholars had led against the visitors through Jack Langston, but they were pegged back in the second half.
Worcester got themselves in front early in extra time, but Chasetown hit back through Max Chimenes – and then won it when Langston kept his cool to tuck home a penalty.
It was the visitors who had the first chance of note in the game after ten minutes when Teddy Rowe rattled the crossbar.
But the hosts were in front on the half-hour mark when Langston netted past Haydn Whitcombe.
Chasetown keeper Curtis Pond had to be alert to prevent the danger early in the second half after Rowe had been sent through.
Worcester drew level on 57 minutes though when Felix Miles picked up on a loose pass and fired home a low shot home the edge of the box.
The visitors almost went in front when Rowe’s ball into the box was met by Liam Lockett, but he sent his effort over the bar.
With the game in extra time, Chasetown were dealt a blow just two minutes in when Rowe was brought down in the box by Pond and Miles stepped up to convert the spot kick.
The Scholars levelled after 102 minutes though when Chimenes fired home to make it 2-2.
Eight minutes from the end came the game’s decisive moment when Ty Webster was hauled down in the box for a penalty. Langston kept his cool as he stepped up to slot home.
Chasetown will now take on Banbury United in the next round on 13th September.
