Lichfield racing driver Adam Christodoulou rounded off the Blancpain Endurance series with a positive performance at the Nürburgring.
The Black Falcon team had high hopes on what is their home circuit, especially after strong outings in their practice sessions over the weekend, but qualifying saw them forced to settle for third in class – 12th overall.
The six hour contest gave the team’s three drivers time to improve on their positioning, but when Christodoulou took the wheel with an hour on the clock the car had dropped to fifth in class and 20th overall.
But the city speedster fought his way to tenth and put the Black Falcon car top of the class.
He regained control for the final stint with the team sitting in fifth, but managed to bring them home third in class and 13th overall.
“It’s been a sterling job by the Black Falcon team, especially in the pit stops and a great job from my co-drivers drivers in this six hour sprint,” Christodoulou said. “After the five rounds, including the Spa 24 hours, we’ve finished the championship in an incredible fourth position.
“It’s been an exciting year in this championship with highs and lows, and on balance, it’s been a great experience. I’m gutted that the championship is over so soon, but I’m looking forward to doing it all again next year.”
Despite the closing of the 2013 Blancpain Endurance series, Christodoulou returns to the racetrack next weekend in the next round of VLN in the BMW M3 GT4, and looking to repeat the success of his last appearance in the car.
