THE wait for a first win of the season goes on for Alrewas as they lost by seven wickets at home to Sandiacre Town.
The Herons have now lost all three of their opening fixtures in the Premier Division of the Derbyshire County Cricket League.
After winning the toss and opting to bat first, Alrewas slipped to 19-3 inside six overs.
A knock of 62 not out from Freddie Clarke was a highlight of the afternoon for the hosts as the innings ended on 179-8.
Sandiacre got their reply off to a solid start, reaching 62 before the first wicket fell. When another went with the score on 72, the Herons had a glimmer of hope.
But 64 not out from Scott McNeil saw the visitors past the target for the loss of just three wickets.
Ben Foley was the pick of the Alrewas bowlers with figures of 2-50.
