Ashbourne FC 0 Lichfield City FC Reserves 4

Lichfield City’s reserves continued their recent run of good form as they recorded a 4-0 victory over Ashbourne in the Pedigree League.

City took the lead in the 10th minute after some fine work from Jamie Shaw found Chris Ashley who finished superbly.

It was 2-0 ten minutes later when a well worked corner resulted in Aaron Cleaver volleying home. It was 3-0 soon after when Ashley controlled a Cleaver pass to fire home his second goal of the game.

City put the game beyond their hosts on the stroke of half-time when a sweeping move involving six players ended with Lloyd Dunet tapping home from six yards.

Lichfield continued to dominate after the break but couldn’t convert their pressure into goals. However, reserve team boss, Paul Holt, was an extremely pleased man afterwards. He said:

“I was delighted the way we played. We were outstanding at times, especially in the first half when we made our pressure count and put the game beyond them.

“We took our foot off the gas second half but still kept the ball really well.”

City’s second string travel to Overseal next Saturday (November 14) for a Pedigree League fixture (kick-off 2pm).
