Bin collection changes ahead for Lichfield and Burntwood residents

Published:

Bin collection days across Lichfield and Burntwood are changing.

The changes have come about as Lichfield District Council prepares to begin a shared waste and recycling service with Tamworth Borough Council from July 5.

Leaflets are being delivered to homes across the area to inform them of the changes.

Councillor Michael Wilcox, Leader of Lichfield District Council, said:

“I would like to thank all our residents in advance for getting to grips with the change. I know that once everyone has got used to their new day, they will enjoy the same level of high service they have come to expect.

“What’s more, by working together with Tamworth, we will help to cut carbon emissions by reducing the amount of miles our trucks travel overall. As a bigger customer we will also get better value from suppliers, and be in a position to test out new recycling methods more quickly. We will also be better placed to respond to emergencies, such as bad weather. Above all, we’re confident the partnership will deliver better value for money.”

Anyone who has not received news of the change to their bin days by July 2 is asked to call Lichfield District Council on 01543 308999.
