Bin collections in Lichfield and Burntwood have again been suspended due to the icy weather.

Lichfield District Council confirmed it would not be making collections fo the second day running.

The local authority said conditions were again “unsafe” for crews on the recycling and general waste collection teams.

A statement from the council said: “If your bin is due to be emptied, please keep it out for the time being as we are aiming to catch up with our rounds later this week.

“The forecast is much better for tomorrow so we are hoping to start up our rounds again.”

The garden waste collection service, however, has been suspended for the remainder of the week while crews work to clear a backlog of blue and black bins.

“We will put on extra resource for garden waste once we have caught up,” the council explained. “However, it’s unlikely that this will happen until next week.

“We’re sorry for the inconvenience.”
