Workers have tackled more than 400 potholes across Staffordshire in a week.
The blitz came after weather damaged a number of roads across the county, including in Lichfield and Burntwood.
A 20-strong team from Staffordshire County Council have seen a 40 per cent increase in repairs, compared to the same time last year.
Ian Turner, Staffordshire County Council’s head of highways operations, said around 6,000 potholes were repaired in the first third of 2013.
“Our highways crews have being doing their very best to fix as many weather-related potholes as they can, as quickly as they can,” he explained.
“We have repaired 1,800 more than the same time last year, but it is an on-going challenge in a rural county of this size and I would ask people to bear with us as we carry out these repairs.”
