Stephen Sutton has hit the headlines around the world after his fundraising drive topped £3million.

He revealed earlier this week how he was feeling better after “coughing up” one of his tumours.

But the 19-year-old has now said he will be undergoing surgery in the next few days.

“There are still risks associated with the surgery, but the potential benefits outweigh the risks so we’ll just have to continue the fight and go for it,” he said.

“The plan is to take a look down my airway, clear out the opening to my lower right lung and then hopefully placing in a covered stent if appropriate to help keep the airway open as long as possible.”

People can still donate to Stephen’s fundraising for the Teenage Cancer Trust via his JustGiving page.
