A new bursary scheme is being launched in memory of Stephen Sutton MBE.
The former Chase Terrace Technology College student raised millions for the Teenage Cancer Trust will battling terminal illness after his ‘bucket list’ made headlines around the world.
Burntwood Town Council is now launching a scheme which will see talented local youngsters aged between 11 and 19 able to apply for up to £2,000 of funding.
Council leader Richard Mosson said: “We are looking forward to awarding our first bursary later this year to a local youngster who can demonstrate their talent and who wants to take it to the next level.”
The scheme is intended to help fund additional opportunities to develop talent further and can be used for a variety of projects including purchasing specialist equipment or clothing, research projects, extra tuition or coaching, competition fees and travel.
Cllr Mosson added: “We hope that the award of the bursary will help a local young person achieve more in their field, whether it is academic, sporting, or in music or art.”
Applications can be downloaded from the Burntwood Town Council website and must be submitted by September 30.
