A CAMPAIGN to create a dedicated athletics track in Lichfield has been officially launched.
Organisers Run Lichfield said such a facility would benefit competitive athletes along with schools, grassroots clubs and community members.
A petition has also been launched in a bid to boost the chances of getting a track in the city.
Spokesperson Dan Floyd said:
“This is about more than running – it’s about opportunity, health and giving people of all ages a space to be active, to connect, and to thrive.
“The response we’ve seen already shows just how much this means to the community.”
Dan said the long-term vision was to secure funding and work to deliver a “high-quality, inclusive athletics facility for Lichfield and the surrounding area”.
He added:
“This is just the beginning. We’ve shown what’s possible when a community comes together. Now it’s about turning that energy into real, lasting change.”
The petition is available online.
