MEMBERS of a campaign group say they have no intention of slowing down protests in Shenstone – and have warned action is likely to increase.

The Silence Elbit Drones group is the latest to protest around the UAV Engines site.

Activists say parts at the site are used to make drones used by military organisations.

There had been criticism over the long-running protests at the Lynn Lane site, with the Staffordshire Commissioner saying some campaigners had been treating protests "like a day trip to cause aggravation".

He added:

"Of course we want to protect people’s right to protest. But does a community have to put up with it every single week for six or seven years? I’m not sure they do, quite frankly.

"People are rightly fed up about it."

Nine people from across the country were arrested at the latest demonstration last month.

But despite local concerns over the impact of protests, the Silence Elbit Drones group said they had no intention of scaling back their activity at the site.

In a letter to local businesses, a spokesperson said:

"We are responsible for blocking the entirety of Lynn Lane last month.

"It is our duty to do what we can to disrupt this supply chain by any means necessary. This is a duty felt by a number of groups, from direct action groups like ourselves and People Against Genocide to local groups who hold vigils, demonstrations and raise awareness.

"As you are likely aware these protests have occurred for a number of years and show no sign of stopping.

"As a newly formed group, we can assure you that our activities will only increase. Our target is solely UAV Engines – any disruption or inconvenience you face is an unfortunate consequence of being their neighbour."
