An independent General Election candidate has urged Lichfield and Burntwood voters to back him if they want to protest against the state of politics.
John Madden will stand against rivals from the Green Party, Labour, the Conservatives and the Lib Dems on Thursday (12th December).
Speaking at the hustings event at Wade Street Church, Mr Madden – who branded himself “a nobody” – said many were tired of the same old broken promises by politicians.
He added:
“It’s punishment time for politicians – a vote for me is a protest and we all know that.”

Mr Madden predicted more people would follow in his footsteps in future and look to take a stand against the politicians he believes have brought the country to a standstill.
“The last Parliament has caused a meltdown over Brexit – shame on them.
“It has become a game-playing, opportunist thing rather than delivering what people have asked for.
“I’m a nobody who paid £500 to stand as an independent.
“I believe in fair play and not allowing the privileged to play the system.
“Opportunities for all need nurturing.”
