THE Mayor of Lichfield has joined her counterparts from the city's twin towns in signing a new joint declaration of friendship and future cooperation.

Cllr Rosie Harvey-Coggins took part in the ceremony during a recent visit from Bürgermeister Dr Marius Hahn of Limburg an der Lahn and Cllr Patricia Bouvard, representing the Mayor of Sainte-Foy-lès-Lyon.

The longstanding friendship between the locations was reaffirmed as they agreed to build on a partnership that has connected residents, schools, community groups and organisations for many years.

The declaration commits the three towns to working together to campaign for the UK's re-entry into the Erasmus+ programme without visa requirements, support culture and sporting exchanges, encourage collaboration between community organisations and create new links.

Cllr Harvey-Coggins said:

"The declaration is both a celebration of everything we have achieved together and a promise to continue building those connections for years to come.

"Whether through cultural exchanges, community projects, sport or education, our towns are stronger because of the friendships we share."
