Running event for youngsters preparing to mark third anniversary

Special Halloween edition planned for Beacon Park event to celebrate milestone.

Lichfield Parkrun in Beacon Park

A RUNNING event for youngsters in Lichfield will celebrate its third anniversary with a special Halloween event.

Junior Parkrun at Beacon Park began in 2023 and now sees around 150 participants aged from four to 14 each week.

To mark the milestone on 25th October, young runners will be invited to don Halloween costumes.

A spokesperson said:

"Junior Parkrun has given children of all abilities the opportunity to exercise on a regular basis, which has to be a good thing for their health and wellbeing – and it’s all free.

"We offer the children Parkrun wristbands for achieving certain milestone events, starting at ten runs right through to the completion of 250 runs. This acts as a great incentive and we already have children who have reached the 100 wristband level.

"The event is only possible because every Sunday morning up to 28 local residents give up their time to volunteer. The different roles they take on ensures the run is safe and enjoyable for all participants."
