Chasewater’s four-legged gardeners are on the move.

The small herd of cattle are used to keep heathland vegetation under control and will be on the move to a summer grazing area on the north shore.

The Dutch Holstein cattle will be grazing on the land until October, when they will be returned to the local farmer who has loaned them to Lichfield District Council.

Chris Walsh, the council’s countryside manager, said: “We would once again kindly ask anyone visiting the new site to follow the Countryside Code, remembering to close any gates, keep at a reasonable distance from the cattle, not to feed them, and to keep any dogs under control.”
