Lichfield residents can enjoy the sounds of early morning as part of International Dawn Chorus Day.
Lichfield District Council’s Countryside Team is organising two early morning walks to hear the city’s beautiful birdsong.
The first Dawn Chorus Day Bird Walk is at Beacon Park on May 6 from 4.30am to 6am. Led by the Lichfield and District group of the RSPB, the walk will take in much of the park, where there will also be a chance to have a bacon buttie and hot drink for £2.50.
The second walk is at Christian Fields on May 9 from 4.30am to 6am. The walk, led by Chasewater Wildlife Group, is another chance to watch the sun come up while listening to the wonderful birdsong, and doing a spot of bird watching.
Councillor Neil Roberts, Cabinet Member for Development Services, said:
“Spring is the best time of year to hear birdsong at dawn. This is why we have organised these free walks and are inviting local people to join us to help celebrate International Dawn Chorus Day. Don’t forget to wrap up warm and to set your alarm clocks!”
