THE National Memorial Arboretum has officially changed its name as part of a controversial rebrand.
The Alrewas venue will be rebranded as the Royal British Legion National Remembrance Gardens from today (30th September).
The changes had drawn criticism in some quarters, with a petition calling for the original name to be retained.
But the venue confirmed on social media that the changes would be implemented.
"For 25 years, we’ve led the nation in remembrance, providing a year-round dedicated place where people can come together to remember incredible acts of service and sacrifice made by members of the Armed Forces, emergency services and civilian organisations.
"Our purpose remains the same as we open as the Royal British Legion National Remembrance Gardens.
"We look forward to welcoming you to our 150-acre inspirational landscape, and to the events, exhibitions and activities that will continue to share the incredible stories that lie behind the sculptures, making sure they live on for future generations."
