PEOPLE are being given the chance to apply for a choral singing workshop.
Lichfield Cathedral has partnered with award-winning vocal ensemble The Gesualdo Six for the Lichfield for Singing session on 20th September.
The event will feature workshops and information on careers in music, before finishing with an informal concert.
Aimed at young people aged 13 to19, the day-course will focus on developing singing techniques, exploring choral music and providing experience of working with a professional group.
Dr Richard Shakeshaft, programme manager for Lichfield for Singing at Lichfield Cathedral, said:
“The Gesualdo Six provide a transformative experience for all the singers involved.
“The day helps the participants develop their vocal technique, build confidence in performance and gain a greater understanding of the music industry.”
Owain Park, director of The Gesualdo Six, said:
“We are incredibly excited to work with aspiring young singers at Lichfield Cathedral, helping them to develop their musicianship and gain valuable experience in consort singing.
“It’s a day designed to ignite passion, enhance skills, and provide valuable insights into the music industry.”
The course costs £110, including lunch and refreshments. There is the opportunity to apply for funding to help with the cost of the course fee or travel.
Applications are open until 7th September 2025. For more information visit www.lichfield-cathedral.org/singing.
