Changes to how Lichfield and Burntwood residents register to vote

Published:

People living in Lichfield and Burntwood are set to find out more about changes to the way they register to vote.

Residents will now register individually rather than the ‘head of household’ doing it.

Lichfield District Council believes that 90 per cent of people who are already registered to vote will automatically transfer onto the new electoral register – but admitted that some people will need to submit their details online.

Diane Tilley, Electoral Registration Officer for the local authority, said: “Residents will receive a letter in early August that will explain the change to the electoral registration system.

“Look out for the letter as it will tell you if you have been automatically transferred to the new system or not.

“If you have not been transferred, you will need to provide some additional information and the letter will tell you exactly what you need to do.”
