A woman has admitted the pain of running Lichfield’s half-marathon will be nothing compared to those she is running on behalf of.
Ulrike Jones will join 1,300 runners for the inaugral city event on May 1.
But as well as testing her own endurance ability, she will also be raising money for Cafod when she completes the course.
She explained:
“The reason I chose Cafod is because I care deeply about people in the Third World. I am an active member of Cafod and I fully support Fairtrade. I really hope that by raising money I can change the life of someone else who is not so fortunate as we are.”
Ulrike ran a full marathon for the charity four years ago and has since run a number of other half-marathons.
And she admits she is looking forward to running so close to home. She said:
“I think we are very lucky to life in such a beautiful area. The lanes and Cannock Chase are just perfect for running.”
