Chasetown suffered their third defeat in seven days as Halesowen Town finished off the Scholars with three quick first-half goals. Halesowen won 3-1.
Craig Harris men’ went into the bank holiday fixture looking to bounce back from their 3-1 defeat at Rainworth Miners Welfare on Saturday.
Where captain Richard Teesdale and Chris Slater’s own goals handed the Nottinghamshire side victory at the weekend.
However, this latest result leaves the Scholars just two places above the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League first division south relegation zone.
After an even first 20 minutes where neither goalkeeper was seriously threatened, the game came to life when the visitors were awarded a penalty.
Slater was adjudged to have tripped Chris Lait with the Referee having no hesitation in pointing to the spot.
Neil Mackenzie stepped up and placed an inch perfect spot kick inside Ryan Price’s left hand post.
Halesowen top scorer Ben Haseley then doubled the visitors lead a minute later with a close range effort.
The game was over as a contest eight minutes before half-time. Price pushed a header straight out to Elliot Turner who buried home the rebound.
In a one-sided fixture Jean Gueyes almost made it four as he beat Tessdale for pace, before firing over.
Paul Sullivan forced Halesowen keeper Paul Evans to make a routine save after an hour.
Price was again in action to deny Haseley his second as Mackenzie earlier headed over for Halesowen.
But Chasetown did score for the fourth game in a row, as Sullivan netted in stoppage time.
However, three defeats in a week is worrying form for the Scholars and manager Craig Harris was in solemn mood after the game.
He said: “We were second best in the first-half and Halesowen were out of sight by the time we improved.
“Halesowen have fully deserved the points today as they were the better side.”
