Autumn will be celebrated at a seed gathering session in a Lichfield park.
Beacon Park’s rangers are inviting children to find out more about the woodland at the sessions on October 9.
Youngsters will help the rangers to collect seeds from the park and will then decorate plant pots with colourful leaves before planting the seeds they have found in them.
Once the seeds have grown into small trees, the children can choose to plant them in their garden or bring them back to Beacon Park to benefit the park’s wildlife.
Councillor Val Richards, Lichfield District Council’s Cabinet Member for Leisure Services, said: “Local children are invited to help the park rangers collect seeds and decorate their own plant pots. This will be a fun autumnal event, helping young people to discover more about nature and the changing season.”
The sessions are aimed at youngsters over the age of five and children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Sessions cost £2 and take place from 10am to 12 noon or 1pm to 3pm. Booking is essential.
