Visitors to a Lichfield park are being given the chance to discover some of the differences between the way animals and humans communicate.
On March 19 Beacon Park will play host to Communication: By humans and other animals as part of National Science & Engineering Week.
The event will feature activities including sending and receiving messages by semaphore, learning the waggle dance of the honey bee, following scent trails on tree trunks and finding out how and why animals, such as frogs, whales and meerkats, communicate with each other.
Councillor Val Richards said:
“National Science & Engineering Week is a good opportunity to think about how the world around us works. This event, aimed at children and their families, will explore this fascinating and fundamental aspect of the natural world.”
Anyone wanting to take part can drop in at Beacon Park’s Swinfen Broun Pavilion from 11am to 3pm, but the event is not suitable for children under seven.
