THE leader of Lichfield District Council says the community “stands together” following the death of a local man.
It comes after an incident in the Ricco and Loren bar in the city centre on Sunday (24th May).
Police confirmed the man had died from his injuries yesterday (26th May).
Cllr Doug Pullen, leader of the council, said his thoughts were with his family and friends:
“Like many people across Lichfield, I was deeply saddened to hear of the death of a well-known and much-loved local businessman following the incident in the city centre this weekend.
“My thoughts are with his family, friends and colleagues during what will be an incredibly difficult time.
“Lichfield is a safe and welcoming city with a strong sense of community, which is why news like this is felt so deeply by so many people.
“In the days ahead, I know that we will show kindness and respect, especially towards those grieving such a heartbreaking loss.
“Our community stands together with everyone affected.”
Billy Allison, 36 and from Solihull, hasbeen charged with murder and Section 18 grievous bodily harm with intent. He is due to appear at the North Staffordshire Justice Centre today.
