The Commonwealth flag has been flown in Lichfield as part of celebrations across the country.

Lichfield District Council has joined more than 500 local authorities, charities and community groups to hoist the flag as part of a month of celebrations.

Councillor David Leytham, Chairman of the council, invited guests, including the City Mayor and Sheriff, to take part in the raising ceremony at District Council House.

C“We were delighted to join in the Fly a Flag for the Commonwealth celebrations,” he said. “Being a part of the flag raising ceremony and flying the flag offers everyone a good opportunity to think about the Commonwealth and what it means to be part of a wider international community.”
