Lichfield District Council has revealed £21,000 was spent on rocks for a play area.
The figures were released following a Freedom of Information request from city resident Alistair Harris about the controversial makeover of Beacon Park.
A reply from Alison Richards, the council’s Implementation Projects Co-ordinator, gave a full breakdown of the costs involved in the revamp of the park and play area.
Other figures included:
- £466,686 consultancy fees (including engineers and architects for stage two and implementation phase of the project).
- £449,053 on play area improvement.
- £301,538 on the new bowling green area and pavilion.
- £15,000 on conservation of the Captain Smith statue.
The revamped play area has already made national headlines with parents complaining about a lack of traditional rides including slides and roundabouts.
But, responding to Mr Harris’ letter, Alison Richards revealed that more equipment, including a slide, would be added.
