The best and worst of Burntwood have been shown to the interim chief executive of Staffordshire County Council during a visit to the town.
John Tradewell took a tour after an invite from Cllr Sue Woodward.
The Burntwood North representative said she was keen to ensure the town’s issues were not overlooked.
“This was a really good opportunity to show the head of the service at the county council all of the issues I’m raising regularly there in order to put things into context,” she said. “We have some real opportunities in the town such as the development of Chasewater as a country park, but there are problems with limited access which need to be sorted.
“We have also won the argument to keep our Children’s Centres open until the end of August rather than the end of March, but we still face a challenge to retain the community activities for the future.”
Cllr Woodward also showed Mr Tradewell some of the highways repairs problems in the town, the mothballed Skills Centre, the well-used household waste and recycling centre and the new fire station.
At Springhill Children’s Centre, they met with Katy Buxton, a local mum running the Friday afternoon playgroup there.
Cllr Woodward added: “Katy and her group certainly left John in no doubt of the value of these important services currently operating from the children’s centres and the need to make sure they continue.
“He was very impressed and certainly won’t forget his visit.”
