Cyclists set to tackle their own version of the Sheriff’s Ride through Lichfield

Published:

Cyclists will put their own twist on the Sheriff’s Ride through the streets of Lichfield for the second year running.

The traditional horseback parade will be mirrored by a group of riders on two wheels instead of four legs on Saturday (September 6).

A spokesperson for the five-mile cycle ride said: “We meet at 10.30am at the Beacon Street Pinfold at the traditional and original start point of the Sheriff’s ride at Cross in Hand Lane.

“There we watch the horse ride go past before we set off in a different direction ending up at a secret location for free tea and cakes for all participants – if it’s good enough for the civic dignitaries it’s good enough for us!

“All are welcome on this free event, so please bring along a road worthy bike and a sense of fun.”
